Chief executive Lin zhengyue’e was received by Vice Premier Han Zheng in Zhongnanhai, Beijing. Lin zhengyue’e quoted Han Zheng as saying that the central government is determined to legislate the “national security law of the port area” this time, hoping to fully and accurately implement the “one country, two systems”, firmly safeguard national security, sovereignty and development interests, ensure long-term stability, prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, and ensure the stability of the “one country, two systems” Far away.

Lin said that she and the SAR government are very supportive of legislative work and will fully cooperate with the NPC Standing Committee in drafting laws. In the future, according to regulations, the SAR government needs to establish and improve mechanisms, strengthen law enforcement capacity and carry out national security education.

CCTV reported that Han Zheng pointed out that in the process of formulating relevant laws, people from all walks of life in Hong Kong would be heard in various ways; Lin Zheng yueh’e pointed out that the Central Committee would listen to other officials of the SAR government, the president of the Legislative Council and other people’s opinions, and the Central Committee would also hold symposiums in Beijing and Shenzhen to let people from all walks of life, including experts and scholars, express their opinions.

The Bar Association sent a letter to Yang Zhenwu, Secretary General of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on the “national security law of the port area”, saying that in view of the differences in the legal system, interpretation, concept of the rule of law and implementation mechanism between Hong Kong and the mainland, the Standing Committee is expected to conduct extensive public consultation in the process of formulating laws.
