The disaster caused by rainstorm in South Korea has caused 40 deaths and 9 people are still missing. Four more bodies were found in the flooded underground driveway of Cheongju City, North Chungcheong Province. The authorities said that as rescue workers continued to search, the number of casualties was expected to rise again. President Yin Xiyue, who ended his European visit, immediately presided over a meeting of the Central Disaster Safety Strategy Headquarters after landing the plane to listen to reports on the disaster situation and rescue work.

As many as 15 vehicles, including 1 bus, 2 trucks and 12 minibuses, were submerged in the second underground driveway at Wusongyi Gongping, Cheongju City, North Chungcheong Province due to flooding. Firefighters today retrieved four more bodies from the underground tunnel, resulting in 13 deaths and 9 injuries from flooding. South Chungcheong Province and Qingshang North Road are the worst hit areas this time. There are 19 deaths in Qingshang North Road, most of which are caused by earth rock flow. 8 people are still missing in Qingshang North Road, and 1 person is missing in Busan City.

The disaster prevention office stated that as of 6am local time, the national death toll was 40. Another 9 people are still missing, 34 people are injured, and over 10000 people need to evacuate their homes urgently. More than 28000 households have experienced power outages, and authorities have dispatched personnel to repair them. This morning, over 90% of households have resumed power supply. 146 roads collapsed or were washed away by floods, and 139 houses were flooded. The meteorological department issued a heavy rain warning to Chungcheong Province, southern areas and Jeju Island. It is estimated that the daily rainfall will reach 200 mm, and 40 mm per hour rainfall will occur in Jeolla Road and nearby areas.
