TikTok US General Manager: We have no plans to leave

On July 31, U.S. President trump threatened to issue an executive order as early as August 1 to ban the operation of tiktok, its short video application, in the United States. At the same time, “byte hop agreed to divest tiktok U.S. business” rumors were exposed by the media.

On August 1, tiktok’s U.S. general manager, Vanessa papas, responded that the company had no plans to stop operating in the United States, “we have no intention of leaving.”.

On the same day, tiktok released a video on social media to thank tiktok community users. In the video, Vanessa Pappas, the company’s U.S. general manager, said in the video that tiktok appreciates the support of millions of community users and is proud of 1500 U.S. employees.

“We’re not planning on going anywhere,” papas said, adding that tiktok will “grow for a long time” in the United States. And tiktok will create 10000 jobs in the United States over the next three years.

Papas also revealed that they are building “the safest app” and will provide $1 billion in funding to creators on the tiktok platform.

According to the August 1st novel coronavirus pneumonia, a TikTok spokesman said in a statement that 100 million of American users had entertainment and communication through the TikTok platform, especially during the new crown pneumonia outbreak.

At the same time, the spokesperson denied charges that the company provided user information to the Chinese government. The trump administration has been deliberating on tiktok for a long time. Tiktok had been accused by several U.S. government departments that he was suspected of threatening U.S. national security. At the moment, the trump administration claims to be worried that tiktok will collect data on Americans.

On July 31, trump announced that it would issue an executive order to ban tiktok as early as August 1. “The Wall Street Journal” pointed out that trump also made it clear to reporters on “Air Force One” that he opposed the agreement that a US company would acquire tiktok and continue to operate in the United States.
